The iconic slap-back delay sequences in songs like Black Star and the free-form improvisation of Echo Etude are a lot of fun to emulate. But how?

In this lesson, I'll talk about the role of the delay pedal and volume swells, plus tell you how to set up the repeats on your delay to get double your note density and a very cool effect.

Let's start by looking at what the delay does to our sequences and what notes work well to create the cascading effect we're looking for.

After you've watched the lesson and got the idea, here's a great tool for working out how many milliseconds to set your delay to based on the tempo you're playing at: Delay and Reverb Calculator

Enjoy!
